Bad Shoes

Long time no post, I have been eaten up by summer. I read at the lovely Bad Shoes festival in Chorlton organised by Bad Language and Shoestring magazines earlier today sadly I had to leave early but saw the fab collective flashtag.mcr and their wonderful flash fiction. There were cards on the tables with quotes designed to provoke a piece of prose or poetry here is mine. My quote was ”Let us reason together” Alan Moore.

”Let us reason together”

is what your lover never says

its always: ”let’s get lost in the dark together”

”let’s lose control”

love resists reason,

some waxed coating of lust and whimsy.

Under this influence map contours unravel,

like that scarf stunted as my faithfulness.

love lets you leave the house in odd shoes

and all your buttons undone,

a row of pupiless eyes.

p.s Monday is Innverse at Sandbar a relaxed poetry read around run by myself and Dermot Glennon: and on Wednesday I am doing this event:

The Stirred quad is formed of Rebecca Audra Smith, Anna Percy, Jasmine Chatfield and Lenni Sanders.
