Stirred Redux, New Year New Format.

So Stirred has been pootling along very well since October 2010 and we are very pleased with it as mentioned in my blog below. However to keep things fresh we have made a little adjustment, we will be seeking to theme our monthly events. As it is also International Womens day on the 8th of March we will suggest that if you have writing in line with that bring that along also but as we announced this month Stirred will be asking you to engage with the theme of music this time! This does not mean singing a poem to music, we want you to surprise us, if in a beat style fashion you have poetry set to music in a beat fashion that is fab like the great Micheal Mcclure and Ray Manzarek: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZKI83Oc08E or for a different slant listen to Tim Minchin’s Storm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhGuXCuDb1U  or perhaps you feel your voice is your instrument like Ann Waldman’s performances:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMqXs-Q6CjA and this from her alsohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qY8FpHH6uM&feature=related and finally the late great Janine Pommie Vega: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdcgC56ZAc4 . However we would like you to take this theme and run, where ever it takes you, do you have poems that use song lyrics as a title, have written a poem about a musician or are inspired by a song, or perhaps you want to write about how women are normally the muse for songs? Basically surprise us. You may be interested to know that writing from art is called ekphrasis and I discovered this last year when I did napowrimo I will include some links to poetry I have written from music/with music lyrics/with song titles below:
