Day eleven napowrimo

Ok so I am late in teh day and this is a scrap of a thing but here is a sense memory as suggested: http://www.napowrimo.net/2012/04/day-eleven/ there is also a fab children’s book by Quentin Blake called Mr Magnolia :http://www.amazon.com/Mister-Magnolia-Quentin-Blake/dp/1862308071 ”Mr. Magnolia has only one boot.He has an old trumpet that goes rooty-toot—And two lovely sisters who play on the flute—But Mr. Magnolia has only one boot”

Magnolia

In Oxford an unfamilar city I stop short

midsentence, breathe in and am in

a childhood friend’s garden,

manicured lawn, small wigwam

scattered, muddied, naked:

fat bent limbed dolls looking up at us

all greened knees and earthy fingernails

tearing off juicy petals, white perfection

browning at my pigeon toed feet.
