Today I went to John Leyland’s workshop looking at writing poetry using the Inside exhibition in Blank Media Collective’s Gallery. It’s a really interesting exhibition, the effect of the room space that isolates each art work invites you to participate in the work, for one piece you can actually shut the door behind you so you are literally shut in! Scary stuff. It was intriguing moving around the different rooms and responding to them immediately by free writing around them. I wrote three pieces, one on a building made of books, one based on a strange etheral plastic bag cloud creation, and I thought I would post the shorter piece, which I based on Liz West’s Repeated Everyday, which you can see here.
You wanted to decorate,
Locked yourself in for long hours
smooching the sequins.
You were preparing your wardrobe
when I interrupted, but there was a space
you’d kept among the glitter and ribbons.
You said it was for me.
