Stirred: Warm World is happening on Tuesday 30th July at The Three Minute Theatre. Until then, it’s the end of the world….
We did an exercise in the Blank Space workshop where we free wrote to the phrase it’s the end of the world. At first we free wrote for five minutes, then four, then three, then two, then one. We used five prompt words each time, which I’d found in The Water Table by Phillip Gross. Here is an extract from Belinda Johnston’s piece of five minutes which actually includes all of the five prompts, props to her:
Unbroken, absence, egghead, cranking, squatting.
She remembered last week when
a cyclist got run over on Hulme bridge
she didn’t dare look
This is the end of the world.
She got out of the car and walked up Whitworth St
eggheads glared at their phones absence of the moment
two bottles of Sainsburys ‘no frills’ red wine stood unbroken
in a squatting place between bars.
Their owners sleeping off the remnants of last night
cranking it up
for when they wake up and it’s the end of the world.
