Day Four: The End of the World

Stirred: Warm World is on Tuesday 30th July in four days. Here’s my piece of four minutes.

Prompts:

pop, enters, noble, redundant, conceived.

This is the end of the world,

pop goes the bubble of oxygen that I carry around

like I carry chewing gum

if you accidentally swallow it will live in your veins

coating them with minty scent

It will enter your bloodstream making you elastic

a redundant gummed object

Wrigley’s wrappers look noble as a library’s stone steps

clambering up to where the end of the world lives

in books and cigarettes and flames.

You strike a match, you always wanted to see how well

water would burn.
