Stirred: End of the World

Stirred: Warm World was a great evening of amazing voices new and old. Here are some responses on the theme of starting line: it’s the end of the world….

Peace sunglasses winner:

It’s the end of the world

As we know, it

was predicted,

didn’t have to happen

But we were addicted

to petrol and plastic,

to gadgets and wires

The earth tired

of our nonsense, heaved a sigh

and decided to fly

into the sun.

Winner of Anna.P’s new badge:

The patio was littered

with glass which I brush away

into the borders.

It could have been hail stones

giant hailstones, glistening

I stood on one of them

I fucking hurt!

But alas it was a new

cat litter that my

mum is trying out

It’s less smelly apparently?

It’s the end of the world.

Belinda Johnston

Postage stamp sized poems:

End of the World

2012, December 21st

11.11 am

Sold Fifty Shades

of Grey. The Board Game.

Louise Richardson

It’s the end of the world.

So I tell you what

Winner gets to eat the other.

Three.

Two.

One.

Oh.

Best of three?

Sarah Grace Logan

postage poem

It’s the end of

the world when

your sock drawer

only contains

left socks.

It’s a sign

Don’t fight the

signs, just….

crack open a sol.

Karen Little

last lines

Poem, anonymous:

The mayor predicted

2012,

‘The world ended’

a lot of books were

written-

money spending

book of revelations

still waiting

in anticipation.

Maybe it’s Government

conspiring-fear mongering

or a rumour young boys

spread

to get between the girl’s

legs

But lets live pretend

that tomorrow the

world will end

and maybe we will live

life to the fullest

and not be scared

to shine our brightest, and

be stupid, forever young

and foolish

so fuck it if the world

ends

at least I’m accompanied

by good times, loved ones

and friends.
