Stirred: Lost writings

Pigeonangel

Pigeonangel

Writings from the night of Stirred: Lost things. We asked people to respond to an image from pigeon angel and create a short poem:

A feather falls to the street, iridescent and alive

It stings and roots in the skin of people who pass.

A loss mourned by all save the bird.

fill the shoe

don’t balk, you’ve

barked your toes on the

rough paving. You cannot

afford pride.

-Sarah Grace Logan

The torn tattered

fabric of my heart

collects like shorn sheet

polaroids in a  white envelope

begging to reach your abode

-Yasmin Babiker

Persephone punch drunk and leered at

sweet mother of impulse, runaway

you broke death’s heart and brought spring.

-Jensen Wilder

Some amazing words both spoken and written that night! Many thanks to Sara Ellis and Jen White for lending their inspiring photographs from pigeonangel as floor art and as poem prompts! Stunning guest sets from Sarah Grace Logan and Maya Chowdhry. Many thanks also to open micers Elmi Ali, Yasmin Babiker and Steve Whaling who really brought the lost things alive. The next Stirred will be on Monday 14th October.
